Yorkie Facts

One of the greatest things about the breed is that Yorkies do not shed and have no dander which is what sold me on the breed since I have so many allergies. Yorkies are indoor dogs, but love to have a run in the yard or a walk in their harness around the neighborhood. Yorkies from a reputable breeder with well bred stock are generally hardy and healthy and live to be 12-16 years of age. The AKC (American Kennel Club) breed standard is up to 7 pounds, many people refer to those under 4 pounds as "teacup Yorkies or T-Cup Yorkshire Terriers". This term is not recognized by the AKC, but we understand the desire for a smaller than average dog. Yorkshire Terriers are almost too cute for words and anybody I know who has brought a yorkie into their life falls in love with the breed forever!
